Twango’s New Google Earth Features

Twango, the feature-rich media sharing site, is integrating Google Earth into their user offerings.

With this new feature, you can now see Twango media and members on Google Earth. From a user’s channel page, you can choose the Subscribe link and click on the Google Earth icon. For Windows users, this will launch Google Earth, and for OS X, this will put an alias to the KML feed on your desktop. The feed ensures that the information from Google Earth is always updated. In order to utilize this feature, you must have Google Earth already installed. The feature currently only works on channels that have existing geocoded media. Twango hopes to have the geo location of media automatically inserted in the future.

The new Google Earth feature allows users a new way to explore
Twango and find new users. I’m sure Twango is hoping that the inclusion of this feature will encourage users to geotag more of their content as well. In related Twango news, they released their video webcam widget earlier this year.
