LiveEarth is a series of megaconcerts which will take place all over the world.

liveearth

LiveEarth is a series of megaconcerts which will take place all over the world - USA, Europe, Japan, Australia, China - and feature some of the biggest music stars like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Beastie Boys, The Police, Dave Matthews Band, Pussycat Dolls and many others. The concerts should raise awareness about global warming and climate change, and it might even affect climate itself with all that gas-guzzling air-polluting cars gathering at the actual shows.

As far as live coverage goes, MSN has exclusive rights in 24 countries, and they’re working with ControlRoom, the organizers of Live 8, to make sure it all goes smoothly. The shows will be available live on LiveEarth website, and up to eight shows will be broadcasted simultaneously. That’s right, kids, you’ll be able to hear Enrique Iglesias and 7 other artists wailing about the state of global climate at the same time!

Insert Songs in Emails and Blogs.

FoxyTunes is releasing a new version that has several upgrades, and a new feature, Signatunes, letting you add music to your emails and blog posts. The new version will be launched tomorrow.

Signatunes comes with the new FoxyTunes upgrade, and shows up in your message editor in services like Yahoo Mail. The FoxyTunes icon, when clicked, will add your currently playing song to your email message or blog post. Signatunes currently works with Facebook Notes and Mail, Yahoo, GMail, MySpace blogs, AOL Mail, Horde, WordPress, Hotmail and SquirrelMail. The song appears to the recipients as a link for the song directing to FoxyTunes’ website.

Additional feature upgrades include a web search or lyrics, artist images, videos, etc., a desktop widget to let you listen to music outside of your Firefox browser, and a podcast preview to find music that you’d like to subscribe to. There’s also an info box for your dashboard to offer more data on songs, album art, recent history and more. There is not yet a Mac version. FoxyTunes’ last announcement was a Twitter inclusion to its service.

Baeble Music : the online site for finding professional videos of live concerts.

Baeble Music, the online site for finding professional videos of live concerts, is partnering with online video site Babelgum to syndicate its catalog of live music performances.

Babelgum will stream several selections from Baeble’s music library, which currently has over 70 videos of live concert footage for up and coming indie band across a handful of genres (indie-rock, pop and heavy metal). This is a good way for Baeble to get its content out and spread further. It’s niche service is still appealing to enough people across the board for it to be able to leverage a deal with Babelgum in order to improve its distribution channels. This is also an interesting move for Babelgum, which has spent a lot of time garnering relationships with other media companies for the provision of premium content through its service.

A database that tracks listening habits and does wonderful things with statistics.

The Audioscrobbler system is a massive database that tracks listening habits and calculates relationships and recommendations based on the music people listen to.

After installing an Audioscrobbler plugin for your media player (eg iTunes, Winamp, Amarok) the name of every song you listen to is sent to the Audioscrobbler server and added to your music profile. The Audioscrobbler system powers our main site, Last.fm, as well as exposing data via webservices so other projects can make interesting things from the data and recommendations we provide.

Audioscrobbler was initially released by Richard Jones in 2002, with support for Winamp and XMMS. The protocol was publicly documented and support has been added to dozens of different media players and devices since then. To name a few: iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player, Foobar, iPod, Amarok, Rhythmbox, mpd, Xbox media center, Slimserver, Jinzora, mpg321, Muine, Rhapsody, YME, Soundbridge, VLC... and loads of other scripts and tools exist to scrobble and fetch data from our webservices.

A new P2P music sharing & social networking service .

Guruger is a web based p2p service where you can share your playlists with your friends.. it's still buggy and all.. but please check it out and see how it feels like.

the point of this service is not just sharing MP3s illegally among random people.. the point is to share your taste and interest in music with people you know already.. that's why you can only share your playlists among 30 limited friends in this service. one of the reasons why we started this project was our personal, simple demands such as "'I wannna enjoy my music with my friends.' and "you want to listen to my music playlists at home or at the office from anywhere you go.. " they will probably try to add some features that can help you find people who have similar taste of music in the futures.
